Clear information supports safer choices

Petlify provides profiles, booking records, messages, and reviews. Owners and independent providers remain responsible for agreeing on care and payment terms.

What does “Verified” mean on a profile?

Petlify shows four separate checks, and a sitter can carry the badge with only some of them passed. In Ukraine a profile does not go live until an administrator has approved the sitter’s identity submission; in the United States activation does not currently wait on it. The badge on a sitter’s profile opens this same list, with the date each check passed.

Phone number
Confirms that someone entered a code sent to that number. It says nothing about who holds it.
Government ID
A photo of a government-issued identity document and a selfie, read by a Petlify administrator who approves or rejects with a stated reason. It confirms the person matched that document on the day it was reviewed.
Background check
Never performed. Petlify runs no criminal-record or background check on anyone.
Insurance
Never checked. Petlify holds no policy and provides no insurance cover for pet care.

What does the check not cover?

It is an identity check and only that: no criminal-record check, no veterinary or professional qualification, no home inspection, no reference from a previous owner, and no repeat check later on. A verified badge tells you who someone was on the day an administrator read their document — not how they will care for your pet. Experience, reviews and the conversation before you book are what speak to that.

What happens to the documents afterwards?

Document photos and selfies are stored on a private bucket, never on the public site. They can be opened by the person who uploaded them and by staff holding the review permission — and every staff view of someone else’s file is logged. They are deleted 90 days after the decision. What is kept is the fact of the check — status, decision dates, the reason for a rejection — not a copy of an identity.

What does “Confirmed business” mean on a listing?

That a Petlify operator confirmed the people managing the page represent the business — by calling the phone number the business itself publishes, by a reply from its official Instagram or Facebook account, or by a mail from the domain of its website — and recorded which of these was used. Until then a listing built from public sources carries an “unconfirmed” banner instead.

It is a check of representation and nothing else: it says nothing about the quality of the venue’s care, it is not the identity verification a sitter’s badge stands for, and it is not a paid plan — claiming a page is free and buys no placement. Reviews, prices and photos on a confirmed page are the business’s own words, labelled as such.

How do I report a problem?

Every sitter profile and every conversation carries a report button, with five reasons: harassment, a scam, unsafe pet care, spam, or something else you describe. You do not need a booking with someone to report them.

What happens to a report?

It enters a queue an operator reads. The operator closes it as actioned or dismissed and has to write down why; the decision and the note are both recorded. Closing a report is not the same as disabling the account it names — that is a separate decision, taken and recorded on its own. The person you reported is never shown who reported them.

How do I stop someone from contacting me?

A block works in both directions and closes every door at once: messages, typing indicators, read receipts and new booking requests. It applies even while a confirmed booking is still open between you — the dialog warns you about that booking and links to it first, so you can cancel it.

What does Petlify keep a record of?

What does a sitter’s profile show?

Profiles show the provider’s services, experience, reviews, and verification status where a check has been completed.

Where do the agreed details live?

Booking details and in-app messages keep dates, care instructions, and changes visible to both participants.

Who can leave a review?

Owners can review a sitter after a completed booking, helping future owners make a more informed choice.

Payment for the service happens directly between the owner and the provider. Petlify does not process pet-care payments and does not provide payment protection at this stage.
